I suspected that was the case. So, my guess is that the rep whom Pablo spoke to was either ignorant, or lazy.

Hi Pablo,

AT&T will unlock an iPhone that is out of contract. Here is a page that
lists the eligibility requirements and other information:
<http://www.att.com/esupport/article.jsp?sid=KB414532>

If your phone is eligible, then fill out their form at this link to
request the unlock:
<http://www.att.com/deviceunlock>

Once they have approved the unlock, you will need to back up your phone
to iTunes and restore it to complete the unlock.

Hope this helps,
Jerry

Hi listers.
I am very upset with AT&T. I have a iPhone 4s, that is out of
contract, so the bill with aT&T finished, and they say that I can't do
what ever I want to do with the phone, also I can continue been a AT&T
customer. But I don't want it. I asked them to unlock my iPhone 4s,
but they told me that they don't do it. That I have to find some one
who knows how do it.
I am looking on internet how unlock a iPhone that is out of contract,
but i can't fine anything any where.
What I have to do now?
Thanks
Pablo
