Sorry, when I said I'll use my computer when I got home, I meant that
I'll pull up thunderbird and respond to the message in Thunderbird from
my computer. I wasn't referring to any way to enter text from my PC to
my iPhone, although others use different apps and applications to do this.

As far as a cable to connect your iPhone 5 to your PC, your iPhone 5
should have come with a cable that has a Lightning plug on one end and a
USB plug on the other end. The Lightning plug plugs into the bottom of
your iPhone and the USB plug goes into your computer. This is the same
plug you use to plug into the AC charging cube.
