Since I don't always have my phone right at hand, instead of a reminder I think I am going to set an alarm so no matter where in the house the phone might be, I will have to attend to it. I was fifteen minutes late to a meeting the other night because I did not have my phone in my pocket.

The default calendar app also has two alerts you can set for each appointment. But, yes, you do have to make sure you have a calendar alert sound set under settings.

How did you set up the appointment? Did you use the Calendar app?

I use Google Calendar as my default calendar, and when I set up an event, I have two alerts I can set for each event. If you've done this, and you're still not hearing an alert, you may want to go into Settings -> Sounds and make sure you have a sound set for your calendar alerts and make sure the volume for your alerts isn't set to zero.

I may have missed an answer to this question, so appologies. But, how
can you make sure that you have some kind of notification in advance of
an appointment? I set one up once and heard nothing when the time for
the appointment approached.
Thanks.
