This sounds an interesting workaround. Does it really work? Sorry Richard, I'm 
not meaning to sound as though I don't believe you, it's just that I haven't 
thought about that one before!

It might be better to leave your ID alone, create a new one for her.
Then you log into the app store on her device under your ID, download the 
previous purchases, then sign out from the app store and sign her in so 
anything purchased from then on would be under her ID.
If she won't have a way to buy things on her own, you can always gift them to 
her with her ID.
