Well, I think that sounds pretty cool!

One last question. Is the download of purchases completed via iTunes on the PC,
or can we do it direct to the device?

Thanks again. Keith

Yes, that is exactly correct.

Richard,

Thanks very much. This is interesting and something I've never heard of. I'm
trying to get my brain around it.

So, if she gets her own AppleID for her own device, and I go on to her device
and change it to my AppleID and download purchases, then change it back to her
AppleID. What happens when she backs up her device. Are all the purchases still
on both her device under her AppleID and they are still on my device under my
AppleID? That's what it sounds like to me. And then any new purchases she makes
on her own device with her own AppleID and the ones I downloaded to her device
under my AppleID will be available to her moving forward?

Thanks. Keith

Does which work, if you are asking about logging in with one ID, downloading
previously purchased items with that ID, then logging back in with another ID,
yes, absolutely.
I do it all the time between my work ID and my home ID.
There are several apps I have purchased for myself at home that I also wanted
on my work iPhone. I do not see any point in making my work pay for an app that
I have already purchased, so I open settings and in the iTunes and App Store
settings log out of the work ID and log in with my home ID and download the app.
I presume that since you can activate your Apple ID on up to five computers,
you can do the same with devices.

This sounds an interesting workaround. Does it really work? Sorry Richard, I'm

I think probably not since you have "changed" the ID so the first one no longer
exists.
So all the purchases previously associated with that ID would now be associated
with the new one.
It might be better to leave your ID alone, create a new one for her.
Then you log into the app store on her device under your ID, download the
previous purchases, then sign out from the app store and sign her in so
anything purchased from then on would be under her ID.
If she won't have a way to buy things on her own, you can always gift them to
her with her ID.
I hope that makes sense.

Hi,

My daughter and I have been sharing an AppleID. Most of the purchases on the
account have been for her music. She's now old enough to have her own AppleID.
She can't use mine I herself because it's an AppleID linked to my work email.

So, I'd like to change our join AppleID to a new one, which will be hers. That
way, she'll continue to have access to her music, etc and won't have to
purchase it again. I'd then like to set up my own Apple ID using the former
AppleID we shared, and I'll have to repurchase the smaller dollar amount of
apps and music that I use.

The main question is whether I can go back to an earlier AppleID that was
changed when registering a new account?

I hope this is clear.

Thanks in advance for any insights.
