Hi Caitlyn, Pressing either volume up or down will actually not reject a call, but it will only silence the ringer. If you press volume up or down after the first ring and your voice mail is set to pick up after 4 rings, the other party will still hear the phone ring 3 more times before voice mail picks up. The same goes for pressing the power button once, it does not reject the call and send it straight to voice mail, only a quick double press of the power button will do this. Sometimes if I am out and about and I didn't hear the caller ID when the phone first starts ringing pressing a volume button comes in handy because it silences the ringer and I can then easily review the phone number by touching the screen and decide whether I want to pick up that call.
