Hi Bill,

You certainly are allowed your opinion. I must say I have seen no other
negative comments lately. At the very beginning, the cardboard was weak, I
must agree but the second batch has been made firmer and, we are told, the
magnets are stronger. I must say I got some very good scans with it using
Text Grabber. That is something I wasn't good enough to do free hand. Of
course, if you can scan and recognize free hand every time, you don't need a
cardboard box but, in my case, it works very well. If you consider the time
that was invested in having the right measurements, the right way to have
the box fold so flat and be able to be put together in seconds, the lights
in it, the magnets, the transformer, the cost of advertising the product and
a small profit, I don't think the price is exaggerated.

For all these reasons, having lost mine in a move, I just ordered another
one.

I've said this before (on this list) and I'll say it again; this piece of
junk is not worth the $30 I wasted on it. All it is basically is a large
shoebox with a light included. I could have made myself one of these with a
free grocery box, some white paint and a small fluorescent light for under
$10. But I personally don't find the utility of this contraption to be
worth the trouble.

And I should note this; I usually am not "Scroogy" when it comes to
assistive technology -- but when I think something is a "rip off" I'll speak
my mind. I post this here only to serve as a warning to others to not
expect very much when they buy one of these worthless (in my opinion) items.
