I've heard this attitude before, too. however, it just seems to me that the subject could have been approached differently. Maybe an explanation of smart phones in general or describing what the phone does and doesn't do instead of generalizing about what blind people are capable of doing or not doing. Something to that effect. The tone of the article gets to me on a visceral level, but then I'm not good at coping with condescension, or what I perceive as condescension.
