Thanks, that is brilliant, so in theary, if I back up the contacts and change
my phone, setting up the account on the new phone will synchronise them back?

I tried to go in to mail but no account was there e.g. inbox or anything.
I added a new ICloud account but it then said that account was already added,
do I need to go in to settings and tick mail or something so that I can then go
in to mail and use my ICloud account to send and receive messages etc?
Can you edit your contacts by logging in to the ICloud? I jhave lots of
contacts that I would like to add and also add email addresses to the existing
ones which I haven't done until now, it may be quicker to edit these if I can
do it using my PC and a full keyboard, I am still quite slow with the touch
screen.

Thanks again for all your kind help, the more I get in to my IPhone, the more
it amazes me to be honest, it is so powerful and you can do so much with it,
more like a pocket laptop than a phone :)
And Apple write the screen reader which is a real bonus in my opinion.

Yes to both. Once you start syncing anything (contacts, calendars, reminders,
Safari, etc) with iCloud, the data is backed up each time you change it and the
app sycs. Full iCloud backups of your device happen when the device is
connected to wifi and locked, but backups of iCloud-synced data go on all the
time.

You can log into www.icloud.com<http://www.icloud.com> and access the things
you normally can on your phone, so long as you are backing them up. That site
is not great with screen readers, but most of it is usable. However, all this
data syncs to iCloud devices, not just the site. So, when I add contacts on my
Mac, my phone has them as well, for instance. Or if you had an iPad as well,
you could set up some calendar appointments on that and they would appear on
your phone.

Hi friends,

I have just set myself up with an ICloud account, I did it using the wizard on
the phone.
In the settings there ar some check boxes, if I select the contacts, does this
mean that my contacts will be copied from the phone to the ICloud account so
that I can use it as a backup?
Can I i edit the contact information on the ICloud and then update and
synchronise them back to the phone with the changes?
Please excuse my ignorance, I am a new IPhone user and still finding my way
around.

Take care all.
