Many of us have spend $50 or $60 for Prizmo, Text Grabber and the Standscan Pro so that is not so far from $99 and as you said, the Standscan maybe portable, but I never have folded it up and carried it around. As far as restaurants I can't see myself sitting there with headphones on because of the noise and try to decipher a possibly multi-page menu for 10 minutes. What's wrong with a big of human contact and asking whoever you have gone out with or, if you are alone, the waiter or waitress to tell you what's on the menu? They can quickly outline the categories and any daily specials which normally are not in the menu anyways but on a different menu or card on the table and then if I feel like Pasta or Steak I can just ask for what's in these categories and I won't have to try and go through everything my OCR app may or may not have recognized. For me those would be primarily in ease of use and the ability to take good pictures and of course regonition quality. I hope they offer some sort of way to try out the app, maybe a free version which allows you to take 10 pictures or something like that. While the price is on the high side, it is, however, not as bad as some people have speculated a few weeks ago when people thought it would cost $300 or $500 and it's certainly a far cry from the $1,500 it cost when it was aavailable for the Symbean platform.
