I think you can do a keyword search for podcasts in both apps. The big difference for me between Downcast and Overcast is that with Downcast, you pay up front and get all of the features available. Overcast is free, but you pay an in-app purchase of about $4 or $5 to unlock all of the features that Downcast includes by default. I think Downcast is a buck or two cheaper if that matters. Anyway, Downcast meets all of my needs so I haven't made the switch. I also like that I can do a keyword search or look at top podcasts in different categories in Downcast. Overcast may do this too, I don't know.
