Regarding the native calendar, one difference and perhaps advantage it has over Fantastical 2 is when scheduling appointments. I scheduled an annual event from the native calendar and noticed a new "travel time" option on the new appointment screen. I haven't used the native calendar in a long time, also preferring Fantastical, but that travel time item must be a new addition in iOS 8. It looks like once you enable this, and then enter the total amount of time it will take to get to your appointment, the calendar will add that time onto the appointment time. I suppose it then would give you an appropriate alert based on the travel and appointment times. For those that use their location services in that way, that sounds very handy.
