Travel time does a few things. If an appointment is flagged as busy, it marks the travel time as busy also, so one does not schedule another appointment during that time (or at least gives a warning of potential conflict). If the appointment is shared, the travel time portion is not shared.
Travel time adjusts the appointment alerts to alert the number of minutes before travel time rather than before the actual appointment. If a location is used, Apple Maps is consulted to calculate travel time and directions from a chosen origin. Travel time can be set as this amount. Also, both driving and walking travel times are offered. One can choose which is preferred.
