The problem seems to be gone in TightVNC 1.2.6. Or rather, it seems to be reduced to the point it's no longer a problem. Every 5th or 10th connection attempt fails, but the very next attempt succeeds. The prior situation was, all subsequent attempts failed, for approximately a minute.
