I should have added one more point to the 'bad news' section (though it's
hardly surprising)...

4) Running the alpha 3 server on a 68k Mac (duo 230, 33MHz 68030 CPU) is
   still very painful indeed! And that's when using only raw encoding -
   switching on CoRRE/RRE increases the pain by a factor of three or four!
   In fact, using it over a 10baseT ethernet LAN (raw encoding only) is
   very noticeable worse than using my duo 2300 (100MHz PPC) over a 28k
   modem!

Still, it has to be said that it did work flawlessly - I could not even
get it to crash while the server app was in front (maybe the machine is so
slow that it does not get much time to enter its event loop!)

I don't hold out that much hope for a viable server for 68030 Macs...

(Just out of interest, has anyone on this list any experience of using
a Windows VNC server on a 386? How bad is it?)
