You might want to try regenerating your Preferences from scratch - it
shouldn't affect anything (since the Preferences are written clean every
time they are changed), but it might help.

Yes, it was intentional.  For some reason, I was getting the mouse button
being "lifted" during drags that happened to go more than a few pixels per
event, which stopped happening when I went back to the "old style" code
above.

Yes.  Some time ago, someone located an API for Carbon and Cocoa which is
specifically designed for remote-controlling MacOS X.  All I would need to
do is use those hooks instead of the myriad hacks used under Classic.  The
rest of the Carbonisation would mostly be taken care of by the CodeWarrior
Pro 6 upgrade, which includes a Carbonised version of PowerPlant.

I did run the Server through the Carbon Dater a while ago, and that largely
bears out my thoughts above.
