Konqueror usually needs to be told where to find Java. The best Java for it,
as far as I know, is Blackdown's JRE (don't have the URL handy). Sun's Java
will work fine too.

Kaffe (the open source Java clone) doesn't seem to work that well.

Download one and install it. Then go into the Web browsing settings from the
KDE control panel (also accessible from one of the Konqueror menus), select
the Java tab and change the settings to enable Java, and point it to the
'bin' directory of your Java installation.

Hopefully, it should work then - I haven't tried VNC through Konqueror,
but other complex Java apps work.
