I just heard back from Dr. Sisley, who was quoted by Reuters about spinal cord injuries and firearms (see this [1]post). She reports that what she told Reuters -- and what Reuters should have said -- is that 90 percent of spinal cord injuries caused by violence (which are a minority of all spinal cord injuries) in the United States are caused by gunshot wounds. The "caused by violence" was incorrectly omitted by Reuters.
