I agree with David. However, it would be nice to have a way to "tag" a
message with a header such as x-sender. Of course, this would only work
with the SMTP Auth, where you know for certain who the client is.

In a more general way, this discussion has come up before. Specifically,
it seems like in some way or another, we're always looking for ways to
programmatically add headers to messages, whether it's to tag outgoing
mail for security purposes or incoming mail with an x-recipient header
for customers POPing a single box with Exchange or some other in house
mail server.

This is not really a feature request since we don't need such a feature
at the moment. We've found work arounds in the past. It's just an
observation.

While I am sure this is technically possible, I have found that it
brings
absolutely no favorable response from customers. The ones who don't
care,
don't notice it. The ones who need it because they are doing work from
home
with YOUR ISP service and want to send out under their company email
address
get upset that they cant do it. They will use that as one clear reason
to
shop for another ISP who does not make up the rules for themself.

I say, if they are paying you for SMTP services, then give them SMTP
services, even if it doesn' have your name on it. If they abuse it, then
fine them (be sure you have your terms in your terms of service
document).
