We had a problem with similar symptoms that haunted us for several weeks
until it was discovered that the problem was actually a bad T1 circuit
interconnecting two telco central offices that transported some of the
traffic feeding our PRIs. The problem was random and sporadic because
it only showed up when a customer's dialup call was routed through the
one bad T1 of the telco. Do you use a CLEC?

Thanks for the suggestions.
I could not find a modem -s command on the MAX. Not really sure where to
look though.

I don't think it is a PRI problem because when the problem is happening,
I
can see the call connect and instantly drop. This will not necessarily
be
the same slot or the same PRI. If a call is dropped, another call may
fill
the slot and then the problem will be on another PRI and slot.

This is from watching the connection status with a telnet session. Sorry
if
it does not make sense.

Is is correct that the modems are randomly assigned to the channels?

Thanks again,
Rick

Anything is possible. Some thing just cost quite a bit to achieve! :)

Interesting! Thanks Frank, I didn't know it was possible in a ch. T1 or
PRI
to l line.
