Do any of the demo/sample programs that come with wx work?

Yes they do, I tried their minesweeper clone, fractal generator, game of life simulator, all
of which work perfectly.

Also, Kao, make sure to try "wxtest" in the Crystal Space distribution.

Same here, it works as far as I can tell, since I don't know what it is supposed to do. I get a grey window and a scrolling list of mouse positions and clicks on the terminal where I started it. No hanging as experienced with wxterangreal, so I assume the wxtest works.

It also looks like CS doesn't have or couldn't load any of the image
format loaders (that checkerboard pattern ought to be jpeg and png image
textures)

Right, none of the texture are loading... Is there any output from CS that would indicate what is going wrong? Perhaps it is simply not finding the files to load?

I suspect that it doesn't get around to loading textures before it gets stuck, or maybe the display thread fails afterwards in some fashion. None of the messages indicate any problems; a few excerpts here:

Thu Mar 2 13:04:06 2006 (2) CSA3DL Material] CS Material: material has no textures, assuming it's color. (0, 0.8, 0.2)

Warnings like this occur multiple times, but the color values indicated look fine to me, so this probably is not a problem. Maybe a3dldemo does not use the latest style of property modeling for materials yet?

crystalspace.pluginmgr.loadplugin:
  could not load plugin 'crystalspace.graphics3d.shader.glcg'

Aw, no shader... I was looking forward to seeing this newfangled stuff in Ter'angreal :-)

I know this one from before, I don't have iMozilla, so this is ok.

No idea what this is, but it does not seem to affect anything else.
That's all!

I also tried the test with a barebones demo: a3dldemo --none
Not much different... screenshot (small) attached,

So to clarify, does terangreal work correctly and you can move around, or does it get stuck?

No, there is the rotating marble thing that indicates a busy application, and I cannot interact with terangreal at all, no moving around or anything. That's why I am complaining so much :-)

I'm not sure what is going on with the "avatar" box that is obscuring your view. The default avatar is a green cone that is tipped on its side to point in the direction your are facing. It is also the case that I haven't used a3dldemo as a testbed for a while, in favor of loading worlds with omnivos, so it may be that a3dldemo is suffering from bit rot and needs a little maintainance.

Hey! Coney is *my* avatar, I've been using him since the early VRML days! Ok ok, just kidding... and anyway, Coney is a bit more than a cone. (screenshot attached).
Feel free to use him or his brothers and sisters if you like them :-)

Anyway, I don't have a test world for omnivos, or I am too stupid to get it to work with blocks.cos.gz, so I tried connecting to vip:// interreality.org/ instead. I see a few colored blocks and a penguin avatar, cute. But terangreal is still hanging there, rolling marble busy, and I cannot move around (screenshot attached).

In any event, thanks for your effort so far Kao, and I really do want to get this working :-)

Thanks for your effort too, and your patience in listening to all my complaints :-)

Regards,
Karsten (Kao)
