As noticed by one you must used 38400 baudrate (38400 8N1) AND you must
disable any handshake because alix is not cappable of that (wrap was)!
With minicom you can do that with CNTRL-ALT O selet Serial port setup,
Option E for speed etc. and Option F and G set to No
(Hardware Flow Control and Software Flow Control).
This options are in minicom v2.5
