Well, at school we have a dedicated line via the Provincial
Government's fast net... and our Computer Lab of 366 iMac's
are all hooked up. Our host machine, a 333 G3 is there as
well. Except for the "quality" of colour display, and the
speed of graphics updates, my poor old A3000 25 mHz 030 with
my 56k modem is probably 80-90% of the speed of those machines
in accessing places! I have had to wait longer getting onto
sites with the school system, than my home based system as
you can see below. I constantly download files at 4500-5000 cps,
and the machines at school are downloading at 5500-6500 cps,
but each has to wait a lot of the time, and that seems to
even the playing field out considerably.
Maybe at midnight, with no use on the school system, they may
be able to beat the snot out of my poor old 3000. : )
Sure, my colour quality stinks, but with IBrowse, the graphics
are very fine indeed considering they are only 8 colour! My
Voyager display is just horrid!
Strange, but true at this point in time.
