Ah, so you haven't seen a "Volume DH(x) Full" message then, while
browsing?
V's cache directory collects all the .html, .gif & .jpg files etc which
are downloaded onto the hard drive while browsing. Some stuff I want to
keep and some I don't.
V3's config, as far as I am aware, allows you to set a maximum size limit.
It should then also regularly "prune" the cache at set time intervals.
But people have posted on this list that these settings are ignored and
the cache continues to build up, rapidly reducing the available memory on
the hard drive.
My problem with V3 is being unable to move the cache *directory* entries
- I normally have to use DOpus, but the cache directory files are saved
under their cache name (a jumble of numbers and letters) which have to be
renamed individually before my other viewers (e.g. VT or Next_1.8) can
read them later, after having moved the wanted files to another partition.
VNG2.95 uses the old Cachebrowser, which allows *instant* Deletion,
Copying or Moving of files - the latter two throw up a requester box
and the files are easily identified by their url title. It is the these
editing functions of "Cachebrowser" that are absent from V3's menu.
I hope I've explained this OK.
