Unfortunately, yes, I know exactly why it is happening. When you
reload everything, you also must make sure that every program and package
is configured correctly insofar as its assignment and locations. A way
to avoid what is happening with your browser is to have the "Cache"
directory it uses to place cookies located in a removable medium, like a
ZipDisk or a Bernoulli Cartridge or a Jaz Cartridge or an Orb cartridge.
Then, any time you wish to reformat either you main fixed drive and/or
the cartridge, you only have to tell the program that the "Cache" direc-
tory is in the cartridge and make sure there is such a directory in that
cartridge.

OT other H, if all you wish to do is to clear out all the cookies,
then simply delete all the files in the "Cache" directory, especially the
"cookies.1" file and any other file used by the program. The program
uses that last file as a pointer to the small directories holding the
cookies. By deleting all, V will have to remake those files as it goes
along and you will not get those error messages. Now, the Web site is
asking for a cookie it had installed on your drive, during a prior visit,
and V is looking for the pointers to be able to fetch that cookie for
the site. Since V cannot find the cookie, it is giving you those mes-
sages.

BTW, the fastest and, perhaps, the most reliable way to delete the
files, without reformatting, is by using something like SID, or
DiskMaster, or any other directory utility. This way you know what you
want to delete, is, in fact, deleted.

I hope I was not confusing in my explanation. Good luck.

                                         Julian.
