I found out something very interesting the other day. Don't know if
your problem is related to this. After someones suggestion the other
day I looked at my Miami settings to see what my EOF mode was
set to. I found it was set to 'auto' so I changed it to On. After doing
that I found that V started to crash. Not only that, but ANN froze
on me for the first time. On turning Miami back onto 'Auto' I've
had no more problems. Don't know if this is a V thing, ISP thing,
Miami, or my serial port. I'm using a Surf Squirrel serial port and
device, a 56K Origo modem, and my ISP is RedHotAnt.

I know what you're trying to say but I don't agree with your analogy.
The analogy suggests imposing restrictions on using the product
(only driving during the day). A new file system does not restrict
Voyager use or the use of any other program whatsoever.

Moreover, I cannot envisage a time when there will be a 100 percent
stable web browser for the Amiga. By the very nature of browsers,
if you are using a disk cache then your cache partition is vulnerable
to damage if a crash occurs during writing of the cache. A new
file system prevents this. Bear in mind that a new file system not only
protects your HD against V instability, but also will protect against
other programs crashing, power disruptions, accidentally turning off
the machine (as I've done in the past), accidental reset, etc etc...

If adding a new file system imposed restrictions in how you use your
machine or software then I would be able to see a problem. As it
stands, it makes the environment far more reliable and as such, should
be looked at as being an upgrade or commodity for the whole machine
and not just a patch to get V to work IMO.
