If you're in the neighborhood of Rock Creek, hop over to Flint Creek for at
least a half day. This spring creek meanders through meadows and holds
rainbows, browns and brookies. It's perfect 2 wt. or 3 wt. terrain. There
are a couple good areas that you can find public access on - hm, if I
remember right one of the areas we fished was the result of knocking on
someone's door and asking permission.

I also really enjoyed fishing the Big Hole, particularly around Maiden Rock.
There are some d*mn fine browns to be had, not to mention the rainbows. The
most massive, insane trico hatch I ever witnessed was on the Big Hole -
never seen anything like it.

As someone else brought up, Rock Creek is great... I have a particular
affinity for the upper river, just below the braids. Note, if you decide to
fish the upper river I recommend driving around - the "long way" takes less
time because of the highways - you'll avoid the nasty dirt road that my
buddy and I dubbed "The Brain Rattler".

Lookin' forward to the report!
-Jim

Subject: Montana trip suggestions needed

I have 10 days of vacation time beginning June 15th and I was hoping to
spend it flyfishing in Montana. Last summer, I was fortunate to spend
almost a month fishing throughout the state and hit many of the better known

rivers and streams, particularly in the Western and Southwestern parts of
the state. With this in mind, I was hoping to fish some smaller, lesser
known streams and creeks which may even require a hike in to fish them. I
have done some research, and would primarily like to stay in the Western or
Northwestern part of Montana, althought I can venture south more if need be.

I have even considered fishing in Glacier National Park, which I
understand is better for lakes than streams, but if anyone has any
information to offer on fishing in the Park, it would be most appreciated.
I am pretty flexible at this point and can pretty much travel anywhere, so
any and all suggestions would be appreciated. When I return, I will post a
detailed report of my trip. Again, I am not asking for any "secret" waters,

but simply some suggestions as to where I might go. Thanks.
