yes i removed the hd put it into a fw case & used my powerbook to check it, the hd is ok

the imac is a tray load model, but i do not have an older mac monitor....

i'm taking up the ideas from Wesley & Dudley

but i need a phone number to arrange pickup....( price)

the whole fuss is about, there are old progs on it & with todays osx tiger these progs are defunkt & virtually no import for all the docs/ emails

They are supposed to help by first archiving the old
then importing the archive to a new app .

*But* if you take the back cover off, there is a cable the goes from the logic board to the analog board, which is the standard d type that was on all older macs. You might be able to plug that cable into an older Mac
monitor.

Tried putting the drive into a firewire case?
