I can answer positively.

I have had my Kindle since March of this year (I did buy the bigger one, not 
really heavier than the smaller one).

I am very pleased with it as I am an avid reader.  Eventually there came the 
time when I could not fit any more books into the house!

So, even though my husband thought I would wait for the iPads to come out, if 
you are just in the main after a reading device, go for the Kindle.
