Hi Stephen,

I presume Parental Controls is set to 'Not allow' the son to install any 
plugins /add-ons.

1. Have you Reset Safari in the Son's User Account?
Choose "Reset Safari" from the Safari menu and click "Reset".

2. Have you "Repaired Permissions" on the Son's Account?
