Hmmmm

Still not working for me :o(

My bigpond mail account:

Both POP & STMP servers set as mail.bigpond.com
STMP server requires authentification: ticked
Logon using: clicked and username & password used - same as for POP
STMP service requires secure connection (SSL): tried with and without this
checked
I also tried checking use same settings as receiving mail server.

In every case I got the aforementioned error message. Mail is being received
fine so I know there is no problem with the username/password.

I found this page on bigpond roaming
<http://www.bigpond.com/internet/services/connect-roam/globalroaming/setting
up/> which agrees with what you say regarding STMP settings but seems to
imply I need to download and install some software called iPass?? - or is
this just to roam a bigpond internet connection?

For internode I found this page:
<http://www.internode.on.net/support/guides/email/mail_relay/> which says
that I need to use secure STMP to connect from other ISPs and points to:
<http://www.internode.on.net/support/guides/email/secure_email/> which seems
to say I need to change the port from 25 to 465 for secure email

I might try this next time I go to Perth - I'll be happy to stick with using
the Internode STMP everywhere (the bigpond attempt was just to see if I
could use the Bigpond STMP server from an Internode ADSL connection).

Cheers

Neil
