Rhonda and James thanks for your suggestions, its the iMac which has the slow web connection - only on her account
On other accounts on the iMac,( mine, 3x kids and test account, all run okay), its just the wifes which is really slow - usually safari and sometimes Firefox. The macbook runs fine Is it worthwhile deleting the Safari and Firefox cache first? and seeing if that makes a difference.
