The problem is finally cleared up as far as printing from Photoshop CS5.1 to an 
Epson R2880 goes.  Adobe and Epson have been in discussion and now Printer 
Managers Colour is preferred over Photoshop Manages Colour.  HOWEVER, you need 
to go to Colour Matching in the Print Settings Dialog and turn on Epson Colour 
Controls  for all options to become available.  
This is unintelligible gobbledy gook if you are not using an Epson printer but 
makes sense if you are!  
I am now a happy little Vegemite again.
