Interesting question Brian, and I have a variation. Is there any way of preventing iTunes starting up and from transferring tracks from sound files on, say, a usb thumb drive when the thumb drive is plugged into the USB port of my Mac Book Pro with latest operating system installed? I want to listen to recordings without having the content transferred into my hard drive or to some server run by Apple in heavens knows where.
