Our cats are even fans, when they hear that familiar whistled tune, they fly into the livingroom for their fix. We own the first 4 seasons on DVD and have just ordered the 5 & 6th season, but there's something to be said when they are "really" on TV. We try to catch them whenever we can. We say we don't like the colorized versions, (we really do) and are disappointed when they are on, but know them too by heart. We have several other couples here in Marietta who talk Mayberry all the time. As a matter of fact, the first time TV Land had the Top 10 for The Andy Griffith Show, I threw a dinner party and fixed everything from the Aunt Bea Mayberry Cookbook and our friend Shirley taught herself how to play Juanita on the french harp. We had a great time. We call each other when certain episodes are on to make sure we are watching. When my Mom and I were going to visit her sister in Easley SC, Mom surprised me and hopped off the interstate and we went shopping at Weavers, lunched at the Bluebird Diner and got our pictures "took" at Floyds Barber shop. It was an afternoon to remember, the only thing that would have made it better was to do it with my husband, which we will be doing later this summer. Well, you said "short" and I've probably rambled on long enough.
