logs should be placed in /var/log/apache2/ and /var/log/wsgi can you also check if the string after alias_match in /etc/apache2/sites-available/default matches the one mentioned here: https://github.com/web2py/web2py/blob/master/scripts/setup-web2py-ubuntu.sh#L148
