Guido,
I don't know if that has anything do with the adaptor. I have found
that QT for Java is a buggy nightmare to be avoided, at least on
10.4. I found memory leaks and deadlocks in the QT for Java code. I
switched to plain old AWT for resizing and the application stability
and performance increased dramatically.

Will the adaptor shipping with 5.2 work 100% OK dispatching
requests to 5.3 apps or should I upgrade that to a 5.3 adaptor and
assume it is backwards compatible?
I had a very weird issue last night with stuff I just don't
understand right now: I have a box with 10.3.x installed, acting as
the WebServer, the adaptor installed is the one, that came with
WebObjects 5.2.3. This server connects to applications on a machine
with 10.4 where the applications and the database are installed
(latest WO that came with 10.4 Server).
Now, when somebody uploads a jpeg from a Windows machine (Firefox
and IE 6 tested) to the app and the app sends the image through the
Quicktime for Java to resize it, the application deadlocks. This
doesn't happen when you upload the same jpeg with a Mac (Firefox,
Safari tested). But it works on Windows too, when you connect
through a WebServer installed on the 10.4 machine.
So, something in the chain of WebServer <---> Adaptor <---->
Application breaks that stuff so badly, that the application dies
when you upload a jpeg file with Windows.
This should be considered just as a warning to be careful, what you
might assume should work ...
