We moved away from QTJ as quick as we could and life has never been better! So many problems, especially running headless. We also found that if something went wrong and we didn't call the QTJ session close method, the whole box needed rebooting to get any app using QTJ to work again. We now use JAI on 10.4 for image manipulation and drawing. The quality of interpolation and anti-aliasing is as good as QuickTime's.

I don't know if that has anything do with the adaptor. I have found that QT for Java is a buggy nightmare to be avoided, at least on 10.4. I found memory leaks and deadlocks in the QT for Java code. I switched to plain old AWT for resizing and the application stability and performance increased dramatically.
