Hi,
I'd like to object to the latest change made to the homepage: the
free CD icon.

We had worked out an agreement with Tim Cramer before to have
homepage content reviewed by the website group. Michelle's use of the
review process for the Feature Spot block on the homepage has worked
quite successfully (and I'd argue without any noticeable delays for her)
within the framework of this review process.

The last time this happened (with the Virtualbox/OpenStorage
callout boxes), we again worked out a successful arrangement with Tim
Cramer to have the "Sun Sponsored Links" area in the homepage which Sun
was free to use for any and all content it wished.

While I'm not opposed to having an icon to request a free CD
(anything to further OpenSolaris adoption is fine by me), I must object
to yet another blatant disregard of the policies and process we've
setup. I'd like to raise this up to the OGB, but thought I would bring
it up first in our group discussion list to see if anyone else would
like to bring it up to the OGB instead. We have quite a few
Contributors and Core Contributors on this list who I imagine share my
concerns.

Bottom line: We've got policies and process that work. Let's use them.

cheers,
steve
