Yeah, I'm starting to think that separating them would be a good idea.

Though I think I'd like to see this dealt with as post-migration cleanup. There are some significant operational and functional advantages to getting off the current portal software.
-1 Once you start using the new role / editing rights based approach you have defined, it's going to be harder to untangle things. It would be best if you can get some or all of it untangled before you have 200,000+ users to deal with. Community Group Roles are not equal to Website Rights, this is my issue with the Website Transition document[1]. BTW. I don't think we are hamstrung by the Constitution[2] in terms of how the website is designed, and if we are, we can have an OGB policy fix and move on. I doubt most OpenSolaris users will even care as long as the website architecture is intuitive and just works. --- o Community Group Roles PARTICIPANT CONTRIBUTOR CORE CONTRIBUTOR FACILITATOR These seem straight forward to me. Can everyone be classified as one or more of the above per CG? These are governance centric. --- o Website Rights Community Group Project User Group For each collective type above, can these rights categories be used which align to the proposed Website Architecture section groupings? These are website centric. Participant Editor Leader The only change I would make is Editors would also be able to delete and admin webpages within a collective. User status should be defined by Roles not Rights. Cheers, Jim BTW. I understand a lot of work has gone into this already, and I appreciate it, but I need to voice me concerns.
