Just so I'm clear, "Sun Legal" gave you specific rules to follow regarding redaction and files to ignore, and then told you that you could not disclose any of these rules? And the fact that I had to ask so many times for you to tell me even this much -- was that based on their direction or was that just you? You realize, I'm sure, that this is an untenable situation, right? 2 days ago, you were saying the ARC community (or at least external contributors to that community) weren't going to be told what the rules are for getting their work published on the site, and that at least external contributors weren't even going to be told why they weren't going to be told. Now you've relented and at least told me why we won't be told. But at the end of the day, my choice is to completely *guess* at what things I'm supposed to do or not do with regard to getting my work published in the right place, or simply stop bothering. If I choose the former, then it's likely that I'm going to have to continue to involve many other members of the community and have them help guess when I trip the hidden tripwires. So Alan and the website team, I'd like to call upon your desire to help the community to help themselves and work with me to bring this matter before the OGB and, if more appropriate, the liaison. Surely, after 4+ years of an open community we aren't in the business of creating secret rules and hiding previously open information. Surely there's something we can do if we work /together/ to accomplish this seemingly minor task, especially if we use the proper channels to do so. I know you are bound by your employment and legal advice, so what can we do to ask for the change higher in the management chain to remedy the situation that's been created? _______________________________________________ website-discuss mailing list [email protected]
