This is the problem w/ Webware. Its very good for complex business interaction, combining pythons rapid development w/ a long running servlet architecture.

PHP is excellent because most websites are just 'text'.

For common things such as basic blogs, shopping carts or slashdot clones, why bother with the advantages of Webware, just drop in a PHP app.

All of the the webware apps I have worked on have been very application specific that are not generally useful other then as examples.

I run a few PostNUKE sites and every time I need to modify the code I get this bad feeling in the pit of my stomach as I wade through countless pages trying to find the line of code that atually does something. I have started to rewrite PostNUKE into Webware a number of times, but each time A new release of some PHP CMS comes out w/ what I need. Its easier to drop in thier code and xfer the database to roll my own.'

But I really would like a better system, written in Webware.

If anyone else is interested let me know.

My main goals is to build a website to support a community groups (mainly kids sports clubs) with the entire focus on getting info out to the members and being easy to use for the club officers. In my experience PostNUKE and co. are too complicated for the average person. I have played w/ ideas ranging from a full blown desktop app (wxPython via XML-RPC) to an IMAP interface that reads mail folders as categories and messages as articles (easy, but you cannot edit a posted message)

Thanks,
-Aaron
