we have had some problems on the weewx.com server since godaddy did a 
system update about a month ago.

the timestamp you posted is odd - the logs show some 'disk image is 
malformed' messages on 29sep2017, but none on 01oct2017 as indicated in 
your logs.

we first encountered these messages around 26sep2017.  i thought the 
problem was a corrupt station database, and we replaced it on 24sep2017 
with a copy from 03sep2017 (i'm in the process of installing a zfs-based 
rolling backup system that gives us more frequent backups, since we clearly 
cannot trust godaddy).

however, your log messages and the server's messages from 29 september show 
that the root cause still eludes us...
