Well I never saw it as it was a Cumulus thread, not a weewx one!!  The end
of that particular thread seems to indicate that the diode was not the
solution, but that a longer lead did solve it - although there was a follow
on comment that the 3080 station cause problems with RF interference which
could be picked up by the longer lead - so nothing very helpful there
really!!!
