An Italian woman faces charges of child abuse after she
allegedly put barbed wire around her children's beds to
stop them from leaving the room. Four children, aged
between one and seven, were freed after a neighbour
heard their cries and alerted police in Rome. Their 36-
year-old mother had left them trapped in their beds while
she went out shopping, reported Italian media. On her
return she was immediately arrested and now faces
charges of child abuse and false imprisonment. The
children's grandmother who lives with them in the house
was also arrested.
A man who allegedly bit the head off a kitten in front
a party of children has been arrested, confirm police.
Detectives in Llanelli launched an inquiry when a woman
reported witnessing the act and claiming it had made
her physically sick. The alleged incident took place
at a barbecue at Heol Tregonning, Llanelli, south
Wales on Saturday. Children reportedly screamed in
shock as a gatecrasher to the barbecue allegedly ripped
off the kitten's head with his teeth. RSPCA officials
denounced the act as "sickening and depraved" and
promised to do everything to catch the person responsible.
A 15-year-old Italian boy was given the cold shoulder
after hitchhiking 1,250 miles to see a Swedish girl he
fell in love with on holiday. The schoolboy met the 17-
year-old on holiday in the US and couldn't stop thinking
about her when he got home to Milan. So he hitchhiked
to Sweden where he was picked up by police at a
service station only 110 miles from his destination of
Taeby, near Stockholm. Police spokesman Mikael
Kinaa said: "He told us he was meeting up with his
girlfriend living in Stockholm." Officers found out the boy
had been reported missing in Italy, and put his father
in touch with the girl's father - who agreed the youngsters
could meet up. However, when the girl's father arrived
to pick the boy up, he took him straight to the airport
as his daughter had decided he was an already
forgotten holiday romance.
