Okay, this seems to be related to the wolf rider being ambushed. The output
from --log-info=all :

wesnoth-1.4: unit_map.cpp:61: void unit_map::add(std::pair<gamemap::location,
unit>*): Zusicherung >>res.second<< nicht erf?llt.
When getting into debug mode, you see that there are *many* Wose able to
ambush the unit and the AI wants to move it to the small river. It seems to
always want to do this move, but is not able to do so since the unit gets
ambushed.
