Follow-up Comment #1:
I had assigned this to zookeeper, but on reflection I think it's invalid.
When you restore a save over that large a spread of versions, variables and
logic in the WML may have changed, translation keys might have mutated - it's
not at all surprising something would go awry.
If you can reproduce this with a save made in 1.8, or at least a late version
of 1.7, we'll be interested.
