Follow-up Comment #7, bug #16744 (project wesnoth):
If I could add in my two cents here…
This was never a problem to begin with. The hot key was always F5, and in
fact, this should be changed back to F5. The best part is, by doing so, the
original ctrl+F5 will still work :)
Let me explain:
Whenever any application in Mac OS X is fullscreen, it takes full control of
all mapped function keys. If you make Wesnoth fullscreen in 1.6 and 1.8,
pressing F5 correctly clears the cache, even if you have something mapped to
that function key.
However, whenever any application is windowed, it must cede control to the
system for any mapped hot keys. Features like Exposé and Dashboard, if
mapped, will take precedence.
That being said, if an application is windowed, if you hold control and press
a function key, as it turns out that is actually an override, ignoring the
system's hot key mapping and utilizing the application's hot key instead.
So, please change this back to F5. When in fullscreen F5 works. Plus, ctrl+F5
will *still* work when doing so. (I've tested this with 1.6 and 1.8. Just
understand if Wesnoth is windowed, you have to press ctrl with any function
keys to get the desired effect.
