Follow-up Comment #3, bug #16744 (project wesnoth):
Command+F5 will interfere with another Mac feature, called Voice Over. I
think this is why the clear cache command was mapped to Control+F5 in Wesnoth
1.8.
I checked again and can't find a configurable hotkey for this in 1.9.1
