Details:

I realise the renderpath_redo branch is working on at least some of these
issues, but I'm submitting this for the record. The game screen flashes
briefly at the start of each campaign story. However, for at least The Legend
of Wesmere story, the first scene is 'stuck' on the game screen display
(complete with story advancing buttons). Additionally, bug #24528 still seems
to be a problem for LoW (but I haven't noticed this for other campaigns).

I have tested this on Linux and Windows, so presumably the issue also applies
to OSX. The issue seems specific to master, 1.12.x appears to be okay.
